“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.”
- Benjamin Franklin
“Who
made
this?”
Have you ever asked yourself this question while you’re eating your dinner off your generic, “made in china”, white, plate? Have you ever wondered as you sip your coffee from the new, trendy, coffee shop’s “holiday edition” mug, “I wonder who made this?” Did you know that 95-99% of plates, bowls, and mugs in American homes are produced by machines? What once was seen as a necessary, and respectable trade, has been replaced by unfeeling, machinery. The epitome of “quantity over quality”. As with most things that have been our “normal” for longer than we can remember, there were sacrifices made that we don’t question anymore. Breaking mom’s favorite casserole dish isn’t as big a deal, after all, we can go buy one for twenty dollars right this very minute, or better yet, order one online before the meal has ended. Having quality dinnerware that we use regularly, and pass on to our grandchildren, was lost sometime in the last two generations. My goal with Taste and See Ceramics, is to bring back a desire to fill our homes with quality dishes that will mean something to our family members when we’re not here anymore. Pieces that will bring joy when we see them coming out of the cabinet for Christmas dinner. Mugs that we want to use every day and smile when we think of the family supported, instead of having no idea what country it came from or what machine made it. Wouldn’t it feel good to know that every time you sip from your mug, eat from your plate, share a cookie from a platter, or pour from a pitcher, that the hands that made it, deeply love their family, and worship Christ as King?
Hello there! Welcome to Taste and See Ceramics!
My name is Abi, and I am the potter behind this small family business. My dream of wheel throwing quickly became a reality after my husband, Nate, surprised me with a pottery class date night. I am so excited to be where we are, and I am so excited to see where we will be years from now! I change inventory often, so keep a close eye out for when I start listing dinnerware, serving bowls, and more!
